This is our 1st Anniversary edition of the Goshen News.  After a year of putting all the pieces into place, The Goshen News sent out its first edition in March of 2023.  The year of coverage included articles on our town’s government, community service organizations, Churches, and school news and events and many other items.  Our conversations with leading public figures included, the heads of CT’s political parties, state and federal lawmakers and an array of noted organizations and people in and around Goshen.  We began with distribution to all Goshenites, free of charge and spread to 7 other towns  delivering stacks of papers to over 22 sites within these towns.

Our guiding principals have been to represent fairness, accuracy and coverage of news important to our readers without sensationalism or bias.  We present the facts, by enlisting many faceted sides of an issue.  Our goal is to inform and educate on a variety of subjects in the hope that those who know the facts make better decisions.  In the course of the paper’s monthly editions, we have seen many changes.  More Goshenites are participating in politics and our leaders are listening more to our voices.  And for those who think “politics” is a dirty word, let us remember this: what we eat, how we educate our children, the air we breathe, the water we drink and most things we encounter in our daily lives are all governed by politics.  Getting involved makes sense.

As we begin our second year, I want to ask for your help.  Though the paper is free, it isn’t free to publish.   If we are to continue and hopefully, expand our coverage, we need your financial support.  It’s easy to think someone else will do it (and we are grateful to those who have given), but we need as many people as possible to contribute.  It’s Goshen’s paper, it’s your voice.  Give what you can to help us deliver the quality and depth of local news coverage that you have come to rely upon.

Thank you.
