Changes in our laws without Congressional oversight, lack of Due Process, failure to distribute funds already approved by Congress, over 147 presidential executive orders in less than 100 days into President Trump’s term have left many with grave concerns for our future. Add to that the fact the many accept, verbatim, the information they hear without critical thinking or those who are afraid to listen to the news because of the ensuing emotional distress.  For those who are uninterested in knowing the truth, this column will serve no purpose.  However, for those interested in knowing the truth of what is happening, hopefully, the information here will help us be better informed.

The role of the media, therefore, in disseminating accurate and balanced information has never been more crucial. The public must navigate a landscape filled with partisan reporting and misinformation. Obtaining unbiased, centrist news sources becomes vital in providing fact-based coverage and diverse perspectives, enabling citizens to make informed decisions, beyond political spin and rhetoric. As ordinary citizens, the commitment to staying informed is not just a right, but a responsibility, ensuring that democracy survives and thrives on truth and transparency. Here are the findings:

The Most Reliable and Unreliable News Sources

Here is a sampling of some of the most and least reliable news sources as analyzed and reported by the Ad Fontes Media Bias group adfontesmedia.com (a Colorado based media watchdog public benefit corporation, primarily known for its media bias chart which rates media sources in terms of political bias and reliability.  It uses a panel of analysts across the political spectrum to evaluate articles that are used in the charts.)

Most unbiased, least opinionated: USAFacts.org, Pew Research Center (both are used by The Goshen News with permission by these organizations)

Centrist facts with some analysis: Reuters, ABC News, Associated Press, BBC
Centrist, slightly left: NBC News, CNN, New York Times, Washington Post
Centrist, slightly right: Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily

Skewed left: Slate, MSNBC, Vanity Fair, The Daily Beast, Rolling Stone
