RECENT OBITUARIES

 

Peter Jacquette, 72 of Goshen  who died in a motor vehicle accident on Friday, June 14, 2024.  Born in Torrington, CT on July 11, 1951, he was the son of the late Floyd Jacquette of Bristol, CT and Jennie Marino Jacquette of Torrington, CT.  He attended Goshen Middle School for 8 years.  After school he was employed at Tom Kellys Farm in Goshen doing numerous jobs, worked at Camp Brodie, New Hartford, Aero-Space in Bantam and Booths Foundry in Torrington.  He also belonged to Drakeville, Goshen and Cornwall Fire Departments.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed volunteering for the Torrington Veterans Service Office as an Honor Guard providing final Military Honors for deceased Veterans.  He also served as Vice Commander of Local American Legion.  He is predeceased by his twin brother Paul Jacquette and sister Marguerite Sweeney. He leaves  a sister Linda Grieco and brother in law Tim Grieco of Torrington,  a longtime companion, Dorothy Goodwin of Torrington, his niece  Tara Grieco of Torrington, nephews Todd Grieco (wife Tracie) of Maine, Anthony Friedrich and Clifton Sweeney of Torrington,  Jared Jacquette of North Carolina, great nephews Jordan and Chase Jacquette of, NY, a great niece Arielle Jacquette also of New York, and VERY  close friends Cal Silano and Sherrie & Dean Pergola along with their children Luke, Brie and Leah.  
He is buried at Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT 06457. All donations can be sent to Torrington’s Veterans Service Office, 140 Main Street, Torrington

Thomas Douglas O'Dell, 70, of Goshen, CT passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, surrounded by family, after a lengthy illness. He was an adoring husband of Robin O'Dell, to whom he was married for 49 wonderful years, and the devoted father to Danielle and Andrew.
The son of Aveline and Allen O'Dell, Tom was born on September 13, 1953 in Torrington, CT. Tom was a 1971 graduate of Litchfield High School and  received a BA in History from Adelphi University in Long Island in 1975. Tom pursued a career in education and built lifelong connections with students and their families. He concluded his professional life by starting his own Educational Consulting company. He excelled in baseball as both a pitcher and catcher, skills which he carried into adulthood as he continued to play softball alongside friends and family for the O'Dell's Plumbing and Heating squad. Most of all, Tom was a family man. He deeply loved his wife, his children and grandchildren, his parents, and all his siblings, nieces and nephews. Tom and Robin had a beautiful, full life together and their love for each other was an inspiration to all. He is survived by his wife, Robin O'Dell, daughter Danielle and her partner Mike Toole and children Jake, Katie and Sophie, of Nantucket, MA; son Andrew and his wife Adriana and their children Aiden and Finley of Wellfleet, MA; mother Aveline Burpee of Bantam; sister Joyce Stiles and her husband Fred of Litchfield; brother Rick and his wife Sue of Morris; brother Raymond and his wife Sue of Plattsburgh, NY; brother William of Bantam; brother James of Torrington; and brother Christopher and his wife Mary of Torrington, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his father Allen and his sister Cindy.
